Does insurance cover your fees?

Yes! Our Registered Clinical Counsellors (R.C.C.)’s fees are reimbursed by many extended medical plans such as Pacific Blue Cross, Great-West Life, EAPS, and ihaveaplan.ca (UBC/SFU students).

What’s the difference between subsidized and individual counselling?

Subsidized counselling is delivered by interns from the Masters of Counselling program at UBC. They receive regular supervision from our full clinicians to ensure your care meets our standards.

What if my situation needs the experience of a full clinician?

We believe that finances shouldn’t be a barrier to getting the help you need. Contact us, and we’ll do our best to match you with a Thrive clinician at a reduced rate.

How private are our sessions?

Our office is soundproofed to ensure maximum confidentiality, and our records are kept under military-grade encryption.

Unless you or those close to you are in imminent danger, anything in session stays between you and your counsellor.
(Your clinician will review confidentiality in your first session).

Will your approach match my personality?

Yes! Together, we will discover if you respond better to symptom (e.g., depression) reducing techniques such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), or an approach that ‘gets to the root’ of the issue, such as Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy.

I learned here that there are DAMN good reasons behind why we feel down sometimes. I wish I’d done this sort of thing years ago, because I feel like I wasted a lot of time feeling worse than I could have.

There are few places where I can express my everyday struggles. The guys at Thrive really created a great place for men like me to just be themselves.
