I have been working in the field of mental health and addictions for the past nine years and my passion lies in assisting individuals to achieve their fullest potential. I have a diverse training background and experience in working with clients who have presenting issues that include: trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, stress, substance misuse and addiction, personality disorders and interpersonal relationship challenges.

I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for individuals to explore their personal challenges, grow, create change and find healing. I use evidence-based Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) techniques to help clients reduce their state of distress, improve their emotional regulation and processing, and change negative thought patterns. It is within the therapeutic relationship that I tailor specific theoretical approaches and techniques to meet each individual’s unique needs, goals, and processes. My overall approach is centered towards empowering individuals to overcome personal challenges, explore identity, increase personal growth and wellness, and identity goals and purpose.

In my years of working in the disability field, I have heard stories of significant traumas and great sadness. But I have also firsthand witnessed the incredible strength, resilience, and courage that individuals are capable of and their stories of triumph. Whether you struggle with trauma, depression, anxiety, a personality disorder or other issues, the first step to healing is to reach out and break the isolation. I believe that counselling is a process that requires a lot of work, but that the work is worth it as it provides individuals with the tools that they need to write their own story of triumph.
