To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.

What Happens in Individual Therapy?
Individual therapy means sitting down one-on-one with a trained counsellor or therapist in Vancouver (or on Zoom) to get real about what’s weighing you down—whether that’s anxiety, depression, burnout, or simply not feeling like yourself. This isn’t about fixing you. It’s about unmasking what’s been holding you back and reclaiming the parts of you that feel lost or buried.
We don’t believe symptoms are problems to fix. They’re signals pointing to something misaligned. Together, we slow down, listen deeply, and begin charting your way out of survival mode—into something more real.
What is Integrated Counselling?
Here’s an example…
Let’s say you’re getting help with your romantic relationship. The issue seems to be one of communication. The typical route focuses on helping you both to be open, honest, and better listeners. Sure, that’s going to help! But what if one of you has ADHD? Or a traumatic past? Or has a job they hate? Or is mortified by revealing a truth about themselves? Any of those things will have an impact on your relationship and communication problems will the symptom. At Thrive, we help you at the level that truly makes a difference.
Another example…
A counsellor is helping you with anxiety or depression. You might attribute your depression to your job, or your partner, or your lack of connections. Sure, any of those can be a source of anxiety and depression. But what if you don’t know how to give and receive love? Or what if you hold a value that makes you feel terrible about yourself? Or what if you’re rejecting your greatest power?
If your practitioner doesn’t provide an integrated approach, it’s unlikely you’ll get the help you need. At Thrive, rest assured that you’ll be gently guided to discover what will empower you, and how to bring it into your life.
How We Work
Intentional, Warm and Designed for Real Change
Our counsellors create an atmosphere of care, directness, and insight. You’ll meet in a space that feels grounding and thoughtfully designed, where the session is shaped around who you are—not a generic treatment plan.
We combine evidence-based therapy with attunement to your inner world. You’ll feel seen, heard, and deeply understood—so change feels natural, not forced.
We Support Every Life Stage and Challenge
Our clients come from all walks of life, but they usually share one thing: a quiet knowing that life could be different. Here’s what we help with most often, but certainly not a complete list:
Emotional & Mental Health
- Anxiety, panic, or living in fight-or-flight mode
- Depression, feeling numb or disconnected
- Trauma healing (PTSD, childhood trauma, relational wounds)
- Chronic stress and burnout (from work, caregiving, or high performance)

- Inner critic, self-doubt, or negative self-talk
- Gender identity exploration and support
- LGBTQ+ experiences and intersectional identity
- Spiritual questioning or loss of meaning
Relationships & Boundaries
- People-pleasing and difficulty setting boundaries
- Relationship challenges (couples, family, or alternative structures)
- Sex therapy (healing, desire, intimacy concerns)
Life Changes & Transitions
- Major life transitions or identity shifts
- Feeling stuck on autopilot or disconnected from yourself
Neurodivergence
- ADHD and Autism support (adults and teens)
Body & Behaviour
- Eating concerns, body image, or dysmorphia
- Addiction recovery and harm reduction
- Building a meditation or mindfulness practice
Quite the opposite, in fact.
Symptoms like these are side effects of overwhelm, fatigue, self-criticism and adversity. They are your body’s way of saying, something isn’t right in how I’ve been living. My work, relationships or habits are hurting me. It’s time to slow down and look closer.
Congratulations on learning to provide your system what it has so long been asking for.
