Psychedelic Contact Guide: How to Reach Our Integration Team

This psychedelic contact form is the most direct way to reach Thrive Downtown’s psychedelic integration team, whether you are preparing for an experience, working through one that happened recently or still making sense of something from years ago. You do not need the right words, a diagnosis or a clear plan. A few honest sentences are enough to begin.

Before you write, it helps to know what Thrive does and does not offer. Thrive provides counselling: preparation before an experience and psychedelic integration support afterward. Thrive does not supply, sell or administer psychedelic substances. Our role is to help you think clearly, stay grounded and weave what you experienced into a life that feels more like your own.

Who Reaches Out Through This Psychedelic Contact Page

People contact the team from many different starting points. Some are curious and cautious, some feel shaken, and some feel changed in ways they cannot yet explain. All of these are welcome. You might be:

  • Preparing for an experience in a clinical, ceremonial or retreat setting and wanting to clarify your intentions and emotional readiness first.
  • Recovering from a difficult experience, sometimes called a bad trip, and still feeling anxious, disoriented or unsettled.
  • Integrating something profound, such as insight, grief, spiritual meaning or a new view of old patterns.
  • Exploring questions about whether psychedelics fit your healing at all, without any pressure to decide.
  • Returning to an old memory of an experience that never quite settled and still echoes today.

Thrive’s integration counsellors work with people whose experiences involved psilocybin, MDMA, ayahuasca, DMT, LSD, mescaline or ketamine. Whatever the substance or setting, you will be met without judgment.

Why use this psychedelic contact form

This psychedelic contact form is set up specifically for psychedelic-related services, and its questions are shaped around that work. If you are looking for another kind of counselling, such as couples work or general support, the main contact page is the better fit. If you are unsure, use whichever feels easier; either way your message will be read with care.

Preparation and Psychedelic Integration Support at Thrive

Psychedelic integration support is counselling that helps you understand and use what surfaced during an experience. Preparation is the groundwork beforehand. Many people find that the weeks before and after matter as much as the experience itself, because that is where insight is turned into steady, practical change.

Preparation sessions

  • Clarifying your intention, and what you hope will be different afterward.
  • Looking honestly at emotional readiness, current stress and support at home.
  • Identifying mental and emotional risks worth discussing with a physician first.
  • Building a grounding plan you can return to if things feel intense or confusing.
  • Planning integration time, rather than going straight back to a full schedule.

Integration sessions

Thrive’s psychedelic therapy page describes three keys for psychedelic integration support, and sessions often move between them:

  • Body experiencing: noticing what your nervous system is holding and learning to settle it.
  • Emotional processing: making room for grief, fear, joy or anger that surfaced.
  • Making sense of the trip: finding language and meaning for what happened, then deciding what to do with it.

After a difficult experience

If an experience left you frightened, confused or feeling unlike yourself, you are not alone and you are not broken. Integration counselling can help you slow down, feel safer in your body and make sense of what happened at a pace you can manage. If symptoms are severe or getting worse, please also contact your doctor or visit an emergency department.

Signs psychedelic integration support may help

  • Anxiety, low mood or trouble sleeping that lingers after an experience.
  • Feeling detached, unreal or unlike yourself for longer than you expected.
  • Vivid memories or images from the experience that keep returning.
  • A strong urge to make big life changes quickly, such as ending a relationship or leaving a job.
  • Insights that felt clear at the time but now seem hard to hold onto or act on.
  • Tension with people close to you who do not understand what you went through.

Many integration counsellors suggest pausing before major decisions in the weeks after an intense experience, so that insight has time to settle into something you can act on with a steady mind.

The legal status of psychedelics in Canada is evolving. Most psychedelic substances remain controlled under federal law, with limited legal access through routes such as approved clinical trials or specific Health Canada authorizations. Please follow Canadian law and medical guidance, and speak with your physician about any health questions. Health Canada publishes current information on substance use and regulation.

Why medical input matters

Research programs commonly screen participants for factors such as certain medications, heart conditions and a personal or family history of psychosis or bipolar disorder, because these can raise risks. A counsellor can help you think through questions to bring to your doctor, but only a physician can advise you on medical safety.

What the research says, carefully

Studies of psychedelic-assisted therapy are ongoing, and results so far are mixed and still developing. Organizations such as MAPS share research updates, and our overview of MDMA therapy explains some of that work in plain language. Promising early findings are not the same as proven treatments, and experiences can be difficult as well as meaningful.

Nothing on this page is medical or legal advice. Thrive’s psychedelic integration support is counselling, grounded in harm reduction and a trauma-informed frame.

What to Include in Your Psychedelic Contact Message

The form above asks for your name and email, with phone optional, plus a few open questions. You can write as much or as little as you like. Helpful details for your psychedelic contact message include:

  • Where you are in the process: preparing, recently back from an experience, or reflecting on something older.
  • What you would like help with: for example grounding, grief, anxiety, meaning or relationships.
  • Practitioner preferences: a specific person, or qualities you are looking for in a counsellor.
  • Session format: whether you would like to meet in person in Vancouver, online or either.
  • Anything about identity or culture you want your counsellor to understand from the start.

You do not need to share everything

Keep it simple. You do not need to include details such as where a substance came from. The form is there to help us understand what kind of support you are seeking, and anything more personal can wait until you are talking with a counsellor you trust.

Why the form asks what makes you feel most like yourself

The form invites you to name the activities, relationships or practices that help you feel most like yourself. This reflects how Thrive works: good integration builds on the resources you already have, like time in nature, creativity, movement, community or spiritual practice, rather than starting from what is wrong with you.

Getting Ready for Your First Integration Session

Once your psychedelic contact request leads to a booked session, a little reflection beforehand can make that first hour feel more focused. None of this is homework. It is simply a way of gathering the threads so you and your counsellor can pick them up together.

Reflection prompts you might try

  • What moments from the experience stand out most, even if they do not make sense yet?
  • What did you notice in your body during and after, such as heaviness, lightness, shaking or warmth?
  • Which emotions came up, and which ones are still present today?
  • Is there anything the experience seemed to ask of you, such as a change, an apology or a boundary?
  • Who in your life feels safe to talk to about this, and who does not?

Practical preparation

Bring any notes, drawings or journal entries that feel relevant. If you are meeting online, set up a private space where you can speak openly and take a few minutes to settle before the session. If you are preparing for a planned experience, bring your questions about intention, readiness and aftercare, and any guidance you have received from your doctor.

Choosing a Practitioner or Being Matched

You can pick your own counsellor or let us suggest a match. According to the psychedelic integration team page, the team’s counsellors hold RCC, CCC and RTC designations and have advanced training in psychedelic integration, trauma processing and transpersonal psychology.

Choosing your own counsellor

Reading team profiles can help you notice who you feel drawn to. Team members describe approaches such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems, somatic therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy, and they bring very different personalities to the room. Everyone listed on that page is part of the group offering psychedelic integration support, and you can also browse the full Thrive team.

Being matched

If you are not sure who to choose, describe what you are looking for in this psychedelic contact form and the team will suggest a match or two. Being matched is a good option if you feel overwhelmed, or if you simply want someone who knows the team to point you in the right direction.

5 Steps After You Send This Psychedelic Contact Form

  1. Your message arrives securely. The form is encrypted and handled confidentially.
  2. Thrive follows up. Someone from the team gets back to you and either suggests a match or connects you with the counsellor you named.
  3. You check the fit. New clients at Thrive usually begin with a free 15 minute consult, a short conversation to see whether a counsellor feels right for you.
  4. Your first session. You and your counsellor explore what brings you in, talk through consent and confidentiality, and decide whether to focus on preparation, integration or both.
  5. A plan that fits you. Together you shape a collaborative plan, meeting in person or online, and adjust it as your needs change.

How the Thrive Formula fits integration

  • Regulate: settling the nervous system so you can step out of fight, flight or collapse and feel resourced and safe.
  • Reveal: exploring how you adapted to stress and trauma, and what the experience may have brought into view.
  • Reclaim: turning insight into practical change, such as clearer needs, healthier boundaries and choices that reflect who you are.

In Person in Vancouver or Online

Psychedelic integration support sessions take place in person in spacious, one-of-a-kind therapy rooms at 470 Granville St. in downtown Vancouver, or online by secure video on Zoom. Directions to the centre appear just below this guide. Thrive’s psychedelic therapy page notes that online sessions support clients in other parts of Canada as well.

  • In person: Suites 518 and 901, with buzzers #0518 and #0901 after hours, near Waterfront and Granville SkyTrain stations.
  • Online: choose a private, quiet space and use headphones so you can speak freely.
  • A mix of both: many clients combine formats depending on their schedule and energy.

Fees and coverage

Fees vary by service, and current rates are shown when booking or on our contact page. Many extended health plans reimburse counselling by registered counsellors, so check what your plan covers before you start.

Confidentiality and Privacy

It is natural to feel cautious about discussing psychedelics. Your psychedelic contact message is encrypted and kept confidential, and what you share in counselling stays private within the limits your counsellor will explain at the start. In general, those limits involve serious risk of harm, the protection of a child, or a court order.

You stay in control of what you share and when. If you have questions about privacy before you write anything, you can also call 604-227-0297 or email connect@thrivedowntown.com first.

If You Need Help Right Now

This psychedelic contact page is not monitored for emergencies. If you are in crisis, call or text 988, or call 911 in an emergency. You can also call the BC mental health support line at 310-6789, with no area code, or visit 988.ca for more information. If you took a substance and feel physically unwell, seek medical care right away.

Psychedelic Contact FAQ

Does Thrive provide psychedelic substances?

No. Thrive does not supply, sell or administer psychedelic substances. The team offers counselling for preparation and psychedelic integration support, in person in Vancouver or online.

Is psychedelic integration support legal in Canada?

Talking with a counsellor about psychedelic experiences is legal. The substances themselves are mostly controlled, and legal status is evolving, so follow Canadian law and medical guidance.

Can I reach out if my experience happened years ago?

Yes. Psychedelic integration support has no deadline. Many people come to counselling long after an experience, when something from it resurfaces or finally feels ready to be understood.

Do I need to have decided to use psychedelics?

No. You can use this psychedelic contact form simply to explore your questions. Talking with a counsellor does not commit you to anything, and your choices remain your own.

What if my substance use feels hard to control?

That is worth talking about with care and without shame. Thrive also offers addiction counselling for patterns that feel out of balance.

How is psychedelic integration support different from regular counselling?

It uses the same foundations, such as safety, trust and evidence-informed approaches, but with counsellors who understand non-ordinary states and the particular questions they raise. Integration also tends to focus on meaning, body experience and turning insight into everyday change.

Where can I learn more first?

Our psychedelic therapy and integration page explains the service in more detail, including the kinds of challenges integration work can help with.
